When Life Knocks You Down……

It almost feels like every time I turn around this week another piece of the sky comes crashing down. I feel worn out, defeated, and ready to just throw in the towel.  It is funny how life can make us feel that way sometimes. Like you just can’t seem to keep up or the world is spinning out of control. It’s hard for me to write this as I always try to be a positive person, but sometimes life is just down right crappy. Life can be a B****! Yep, I said it, you read that right!
Here’s is the thing about when life knocks you down…. You need to know where your safe place is. I’m not talking a place that keeps you safe from harm or dangers. This place is somewhere you feel safe, you can honestly share your feeling with someone, or reflect on them without distraction. This place should be yours, it should comfort you and help you to try to shake those bad feelings. If you don’t have a place you feel safe, reflect on what makes you feel good or brings you joy. Follow those feelings to that place. It may take some time, but you will find it.
For some it may be your favorite park, store, your home, a relatives house, or something as simple as going for walk/ run. Your safe place doesn’t need to be a physical structure, it can be anywhere.  That is the beauty of a safe place, it yours and yours alone. No two people truly have the same safe place for the same reason.

You Get Back Up And Try Again……

This week life has knocked me down more times than I even care to count, and each time I found myself running to my safe place. My safe place just happens to be at Aerial Dance. Each time I set foot in that door, everything makes sense in the world again.  I can either put my worries on pause and focus on what makes me happy. But if life is really hard,  I know that I need to take a class that requires me to push strength to remind myself that I am a strong person on the inside and out. It helps me release some of my negativity and to look at my situations through a new lens.
Another reason Aerial Dance has become my safe place is the people. Instructors and students alike. Aerial Dance is a place you can be yourself no matter how bad your life is at the moment. No is there to judge you or criticize you. They are their working on themselves as well and will even lift you up along their way.  I have the feeling that I am not the only one who thinks of Aerial Dance as their safe place. My reasons may be completely different than theirs, but I’ll bet we agree that without Aerial Dance at times we wouldn’t be able to stay afloat in this crazy race called life.
This weekend, if your week or even weeks have been really difficult. Take the time to go to or find your safe place. You need it! We all do a million and ten things for others in our lives. Remember to try and not lose yourself along the way. I know that it is so much easier said than done, but I believe that you can’t be the best version of yourself if you lose sight of who you are. Find your safe place, recharge your batteries, and TRY AGAIN!

Until Next Time
