My First Performance

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]A Studio Verve tradition, where I started pole, was to do a Christmas Show (yes, I blatantly stole this idea from them!) So in 2007, after dancing for approximately 6 months, I did my first performance.  I was SO EXCITED and SO NERVOUS.  It was at the studio and I danced the “level 2″ routine the my pole friend Kelly.  I had met her at the Preview class I did way back in July and we became pole sisters and took classes together, then had delicious Thai food after.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”12px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”35893″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” image_hovers=”true” img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”35892″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” image_hovers=”true” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The song was “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” and the choreography was done by the incredibly talented Jennifer, who ones Studio Verve.  It was a super cute routine that to this day I can’t help but go through the moves whenever I hear the song.  Car, dance floor, it doesn’t matter, I’m on a pole in my head!
That’s correct. I danced in sneakers. I’m not even sure why I did. But when I started pole that is what we did. Looking back I wonder if that was an attempt to make it seem more like fitness and less like exotic dance? Many pole studios do have their women workout in 6 inch stilettos. I am thankful I was never one of those women, because let’s be honest, I’d break an ankle just walking around the pole in them! So as ridiculous as it looks now, I started my pole career in white tennis shoes.
