I love working out but I would describe my mood on the way to the studio as “blah” and my mood when leaving as “high on life, glowing, can do anything I put my mind to!!” So what happened to cause such a dramatic change to my mood? I got to hang out in the air with some pretty cool ladies who support my hopes, dreams and sometimes my neck and/or hips depending on the trick 😉 I was in an environment that is all inclusive and welcoming with lots of laughter. So everything on the outside was amazing. And then on the inside, my blood was pumping, my muscles were flexing and my brain started to pump out neurotransmitters. These are chemical messengers. Most of us are familiar with exercise leading to the release of endorphins, which are produced in the pituitary gland in response to stress and pain. But did you know, the body has to experience enough stress (i.e. about an hour of exercise) in order to produce the endorphins in response to pain and the perception of pain? Woah! So why do I start feeling blissful within 10-15 minutes? Because the body also releases dopamine and serotonin. Dopamine helps you feel pleasure, satisfaction and motivation. Serotonin helps control mood and happiness.

I have always heard that the benefits of exercise could be encapsulated, it would be the most highly prescribed pill. From personal experience, I completely agree with that statement so who is ready for a healthy dose of neurotransmitters??!! All you have to do is sign up for a class. The big question is, which one are you going to sign up for? Schedule – Aerial Dance (aerialdancepoleexercise.com)
