I know this topic has been talked about time and time again but it’s an important subject so I think reminders are always a good thing. Sometimes we forget and get in our own heads and let our insecurities get the best of us.
You just started your pole journey and there are up to seven other girls in class with you. You are all new to the pole world and you are all learning new things and having fun. In the midst of this you all learn that pole and aerial are not easy. Maybe you start to notice the other girls seem to be understanding things faster than you. Maybe they are nailing moves left and right and you can’t even figure out how to do a stand on the pole.
It’s okay girl!!! We are all unique snowflakes and we will all progress at our own rate. Take it from me, I am one of those girls that watched all my friends progress and move up to the more advanced and extreme pole classes. Meanwhile I spent well over a year in feeling stuck in intermediate. It took me quite a while to come to terms with the fact that I am my own person, and I will progress at my own pace. I remember telling my husband that I’d never make it to advanced classes and that I might as well give up now to avoid the disappointment later.
If you feel the same way I did, I’m here to tell you that you that you can in fact do it! You are strong, beautiful and unique. I am now an Advanced Pole student doing moves that I told myself I’d NEVER do. I’ve even cleared the beautiful move Jordan from the logo.
We all have different backgrounds and our bodies all work differently. The girl that you are comparing yourself to comes from a totally different background than you. So next time you are looking at the girl across the room thinking “I’ll never be able to do that!” I’m here to tell you that you can!! So turn to that girl and cheer her on. Most likely she is just as insecure as you are. Keep trying and you WILL get there. You are amazing in your own way! I am willing to bet that there are moves that you can nail that she struggles with.
