There are so many things that go on behind the scenes at Aerial Dance to make things run so beautifully. So let’s take a second to appreciate the many things that we instructors do to make sure that Aerial Dance remains the wonderfully well-oiled machine it is! Here are just a few:

Did you know that we as instructors meet and train with each other for a MINIMUM of 3 hours every week? That’s right. Our schedule is strategically built so that even those of us who have other jobs can get to the studio to spend time training with our fellow instructors. We work on everything from reviewing moves, to practicing teaching each other, working on our own skills and tricks, sharing ideas and words to use with students, and so much more. We want to make sure that we are keeping our training going so that we can best serve all of you!

Did you know that Paula and the team have spent ten years learning, and updating the pole curriculum to make it what it is today? The curriculum has been built on years of knowledge from all of our instructors, Paula’s education and background, as well as all of the places we’ve trained or had people come in from to train. There is so much research that has gone into the curriculum and it has been changed many times (and continues to change) as we continue to learn more.

Did you know that when we choreograph specialty workshops and dance routines that can take anywhere from an hour to four or more depending on the length and complexity of the routine?!? Your instructors’ creativity can take time, and sometimes the moves just flow. I know that for me, I have to be in the right mood and mindset and these things can’t always be rushed.

Did you know that your instructors spend time both before and after (and even in between) classes every day cleaning, sanitizing, and making sure that our spaces remain nice? And along with that, we hire a professionally cleaning company to come in on top of our cleaning? There are so many nooks and crannies to get into! We also make sure that we check all of the equipment (every pole attachment, the pulleys, aerial attachments, carabiners, span-sets, etc.) for wear and to make sure that it is safe for use before we have you use it.

I don’t like to toot my own horn very often – but there’s a lot more going on than meets the eye at Aerial Dance. These are just a few of the things that we do to help make the experience at Aerial Dance the amazing facility that it is.
