During the pandemic, I felt stuck and passionless for quite a while, and started to research some alternative hobbies while in virtual school. I’ve always had a passion for dancing and singing, and I attempt to stay active each day. My rule in life is to continue being open and ready to welcome new opportunities in my life. I found it extremely difficult to continue a workout routine in the beginning of the year, as my spark for fitness seemed to be gone, as with many other passions in my life. I was a vocal performance major, going to online music school. I know many can relate to having to adapt to a new lifestyle during this time. That being said, I found a hobby that I know will easily become a passion of mine. I remember once trying aerial yoga many years ago, and after my college roommate suggested that she and I should do something “fresh and new,” we ventured out to our first aerial class. I started to become extremely curious about this new world, and here I am…

I am learning that my body is not as strong as I believed it was. I am feeling quite sore overall. Thankfully, the instructors here at Aerial Dance are nothing short of amazing and sure know how to pump us all up. Despite how I feel, learning new pole moves is a thrill each time. At the end of the day, I love checking off boxes on our cards. It makes me feel like I am making true progress, even if I do not see it on the day of class. I have to remember, practice does make perfect and if I continue to keep on, even on the tough days… I am making my way to the next level- both mentally and physically.
